The Course

The undulating 18-hole parkland course, opened in 1973, measures 5912 yards, par 71 & provides a challenge to golfers of all abilities. It is one of the best kept municipal parkland courses in the North West and is open daily throughout the year from light until dusk.

Each hole has its own unique features. Generally wide fairways do not unduly punish the high handicappers, but even scratch players will do very well to finish under par. Two par fives, a sprinkling of par threes and some short (but challenging) and not so short (and still challenging!) par fours make sure there is something for everyone.

Sherdley Park has held a multitude of opens, charity competitions and the South Lancs championship, and still the course record is only seven under. The course is mostly well cared for, well presented and thoroughly enjoyable. In the height of summer, play the 14th hole and you will not believe you are only a mile or so away from an industrial heartland.
